Capital Stock
Capital Stock means:
the amount of money or property contributed by stockholders to be used as the financial foundation for a corporation. Capital stock includes all classes of common and preferred stock. Former IRC (check if this IRC provision is current here) §7701(a)(7).
Capital Stock Tax
A Capital Stock Tax is a state tax imposed on an out-of-state corporation for the privilege of doing business in the state imposing the tax. Many states apportion income or capital on the basis of a three-factor formula: sales, property, and payroll in the particular state as compared to these factors in all states.
