Freeze

Freeze may have one of the following meanings, depending the context of the term:

1. a provision of the Social Security disability program under which a blind person who is able to work, has “substantial” earnings, and does not qualify for Social Security disability benefits will not have future benefits reduced because of relatively lower earnings in the years when he or she was blind. Under afreeze, the lower earnings years (when the person was blind for Social Security purposes) will not be incorporated into the Social Security benefit calculation model.
