Hearing may have one of the following meanings, depending the context of the term:

1. generally, a proceeding to determine an issue of fact on the basis of the evidence available.

2. the second level of appeal by a person who disagrees with a Social Security Administration decision on a disability claim. Under the hearing level of appeal, a worker is entitled to apply to be heard by a judge.
