Personal Allowances

Personal Allowances

The Personal Allowances are.

exemptions from withholding for a taxpayer, spouse, and dependents, used in calculating the amount of income tax to be withheld from periodic wage payments. Personal allowances are granted to individuals as deductions from income in computing their taxable income. There is usually a deduction for the individual himself, spouse, children and other dependents. The employee/taxpayer completes Former Federal Tax Form (check here if the Form is current) W-4 indicating the number of allowances to be considered for withholding purposes.
