Repressive Tax

Repressive Tax

Repressive Tax means:
a tax designed to discourage a certain activity, rather than to produce revenue; also called a sin tax. High tariffs and high taxes on such commodities as tobacco and alcohol are repressive in the sense that they discourage consumption of the taxed product by raising its price.
