Collateral Agreement

Collateral Agreement

Collateral Agreement means:
a one-sided commitment by a taxpayer that does not bind the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and is used to clarify or to obtain a commitment regarding some matter other than the amount of an assessment. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may use a collateral agreement in place of a closing agreement.
