Securities and Exchange Commission
About Securities and Exchange Commission:
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is the federal agency created in 1943 to carry out the provisions of the Securities Exchange Act. Generally, the agency seeks to protect the investing public by preventing misrepresentation, fraud, manipulation, and other abuses in the securities markets. The SEC reviews proposed public offerings of securities and registers listed securities, but it does not guarantee that the investor will not incur loss.
