Series E Bond

Series E Bond

Series E Bond means:
a savings bond issued by the U.S. government from 1941 to 1979. Series EE bond is a piece of paper showing that an individual has agreed to lend money to the U.S. Government and that the government agrees to back amount back with extra money (interest) when individual decides to turn in the bond. Generally issued at 75 cents per dollar of face value, the bonds mature at par in a specified number of years that fluctuates with the rate of interest. A taxpayer may report the interest income each year or report the entire amount when the bond is cashed.
