Writ of Certiorari means:
the Supreme Court's answer to a request to hear an appeal of a lower court decision.
Writ of Certiorari means:
the instrument by which an appeal from a U.S. Court of Appeals decision is made. In most situations, the U.S. Supreme Court will deny the writ (see also cert, den.), thereby affirming the lower court's decision.
